Best Piece of Creative Work

Unlike other talented students, my ‘ creative ‘ piece of work isn’t a drawing or painting. Instead, my greatest recent creative work piece is expressed through event planning. This year, I got the chance to participate in an engineering society and create social events for the engineering cohort of UNSW, and in turn expressed my creativity through bringing ideas of exciting projects to life - especially the orientation camp. The ideas / image / selling of the camp combined with coming up with special activites to run was a significant creative piece of work that I have recently worked on.

Image of Great Piece of Architecture

My chosen piece of architecture is The Colosseum in Rome, Italy. This piece was chosen because I got the opportunity to travel across Europe in late 2018 and this spot stood out and was one of the most memorable. On my trip, tour guides led us towards many different spots and gave informative and extensive facts and information regarding its history, purpose, construction etc. A few interesting facts about the place was that it was an arena built for the purpose of entertainment of the roman people at the time – holding many executions, fights, and even mock sea battles by flooding the arena.

Original Picture of Something Beautiful

My photograph of something beautiful is my first ever car – a present that I got for my 18th birthday from my parents. It got me into modifying cars and ignited a  hobby which was more than my parents were looking for when purchasing it for me just for a mode of transport to get to university. An interesting fact is that most people who are into cars think their own car looks amazing and immediately form an extremely biased opinion. For example I think my car looks great but in reality maybe it’s because of my emotional attachments rather than the physical looks– as is it rather old now.

Week 3 / Assessment 1:

--------" Conceptual Statement "

My conceptual designs for ‘the_kyza’ are based on the noun ‘Aggressive’ and I have portrayed such a feeling through color, texture, shape, and material choice of the stairs. Aggressiveness is conveyed through the stark contrast in robustness of the diamond plate steel in comparison to the glass. The middle glass also brings visibility to the underlying spikes upon walking up the stairs. Meanwhile the mirroring ramp section reflects sharp edges of the building whilst opening visibility to the car underbodies.

--------Conceptual Statement "

The design for ‘Mountain and Moon’ is driven by the adjective ‘scaly’ upon describing a set of earrings designed by the company. The ‘scaly’ feeling is created and initiates from the existing walls which are molded and droop off the walls and start to form stairs. The non-conventional steps are in abundance and the relationship of each piece to another creates the ‘scaly’ feeling. The overall interconnection is represented through the multiple step options when travelling up or down.
